Yet another plant ID request!

Hi there - longtime lurker, complete gardening numpty! We’ve inherited an amazing garden which had been planted with love but left neglected for years. I’ve come across this plant, tried to ID it for ages, and have come up a blank. I’m possibly missing something but need a more learned person’s input. If you could have a look at the photos and help, I would very much appreciate it!

    Looks like a tree peony.

Pic 1 is an opened tree peony pod I think, nut.  Not sure about the twiggy thing - rosemary?

    Callistemon (Bottlebrush) seed pods?

Is that what it is, Bob? I've never seen those.

Hi Bob! Sorry the Callistemon were an accidental inclusion (I knew what they were! 😊) - all photos are the same plant. I was leaning towards Tree Peony, however the flowers (which I sadly don’t have a photo of this time of year) are yellow and definitely not as showy as what I understand Tree Peony to be.

This one I know after living in Australia for 8 years 😊 - we also have Geraldton Wax and Tea Tree in the garden.

Thanks Diane. Tree Paeonies are variable. I have one with huge yellow flowers, one with white flowers that are so huge it looks ungainly. But also a red one with smaller flowers which I rather like.
Plus some of the plant catalogues give a false impression of the plants they are selling. :)
