I've just put the heating on too. A chance to see if that new-fangled double glazing we had installed works.

I put on a jumper yesterday for the first time since May. And slippers. It was a sad moment.

Back to normal temps here next week but it is chilly now. Not sure whether the local Wilko will have anything in the sale - they only got bulbs in 6 weeks after other stores

For me it is when the spring bulbs go on sale. Must admit the nip in the air is noticeable but I'm putting that down to the fact we had such a hot summer we have noticed the drop in temperature! Some summers never seem to get warm. I'm also about to transplant or move things around that have outgrown their space whilst there is some warmth still here. Must admit I got into bed lat night and for the first time thought 'brrr that's cold'.

Walking bare footed around the house and thinking ooo that's cold not ooo that's nice and having to wear socks.
  • I've had to sneak the heating on a couple of times too. Our house rule of no heating before September has been broken! It was 8 degrees this morning!

I wore a jacket for the first time since May this morning.

But it's nice to get under the duvet though. Cool nights are much more comfortable than hot sweaty nights with the windows shut to keep the mozzies out.
I hate daddy longlegs, they give me the creeps -another sign that summer's over. Although, I haven't seen one yet.

When the geese fly over in V formation every evening - but I've decided they're early this year so I'm ignoring them  :)

I've never understood why folk have central heating rules dictated by the calendar. Mine is dictated by the thermometer. ;)
