I've been taking cuttings for over 40 years and have never washed a pot/seed tray in my life.
    Maybe I'm just lucky.
It was the one change I made that increased my success rate.

But it's a dark art this gardening malarkey. 😆
I'd not noticed any lack of success in my own method.
    I MUST be lucky.

I occasionally swill mine out after planting something, before shoving something else in the pot.
Does that count as washing, or am I a dirty slut like you two, Hosta and doc?  :D
    Clean [washed] answers only please....
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

    I don't even "swill" ( where's the blushy emoji? )

I don't always swill in clean water Hosta. There's usually a bucket lying nearby with rainwater in it.... ;)
At our last house, I used to just swill them in the pond - filled the watering cans that way too. Didn't affect the water level since it was fed from a spring. Very handy  :)

I’m a slut as well, never washed a pot or tray, you know how many seeds and cuttings I do in a year, never buy a plant.  Not that I couldn’t afford too, I just like doing it and hate consumerism.
Gardening on the wild, windy west side of Dartmoor.
