Long thermal socks for hiking or skiing will help keep the blood warm as it's flowing towards your feet.  Two pairs for gardening did me well in Belgium when it was cold and wet.

We have microwaveable slippers, they are filled with wheat like the things you get for a stiff neck.  When my mum has one of her frequent tummy upsets, she hugs a hot slipper to her abdomen and it eases the pain.  They're too heavy to walk about in, but great when you're sitting down for any length of time.  You can keep a pair of normal slippers by your chair to change into when it's time to call in the cat or pour yourself a nightcap.

Forgot to say good old-fashioned leg warmers are great for keeping lower legs and thus feet warm too.   I used them when I had a new foot one January and had a bare foot with just a dressing and an orthopedic boot.   Brrr!

  • Helpful replies there-thank you. I will have a look in to these now as I have started using the gas fire on low, now the hot weather has gone.
