I am waiting for Aidan to clarify.

  • Thanks for the responses you have been a great help. Only recently moved to the new house and was curious as to what the tree was among what I think are some conifers planted by the previous owners. I have also found today another one growing about 2 meters away.
It looks like it has a different leaf structure however I could be wrong! We live behind a small belt of trees but I don’t see any tree that resembles the same leaf/ oak tree.  Thanks, Aidan
  • I am looking in the first picture for the identification of the small tree in the centre of the picture. Sorry about the confusion. Aidan

That is another Oak seedling with the stone beside it Aidan - not a conifer The stem in your very first picture is hard to indentify. At a quick glance I would say its an Ash seedling because of the green apearance but I would like to see if there are any leaves attached to it higher up that stem.

You're quite right Dove and Ladybird, I was looking at the bigger reddish trunk behind the smaller plant with the oak like leaves - apologies all round.

Apologies not needed Lizzie. We all skated around the identifying.
