@AuntyRach "Unfortunately the sunrise will still be getting a bit later until the first week of January." -- Until a few years ago I though this was just my perception because after the Solstice the days are supposed to be getting longer again . I have read explanations of this phenomenon but still find it a bit baffling but you are quite right, although the sunset is later the sunrise is later too but overall the daylight is supposed to be longer. This depends of course on it not being a day like yesterday! I find it is not till the very end of January / early Feb that you can really notice a distinct improvement. Can't come soon enough for me.
Phaidra, no day is ever three dulls and at the moment here in the N.E. brilliant sunshine with a Siberian wind blowing off the North Sea. Sunshine banishes all dull thoughts and puts a smile on the face, I will take the wind. Then there is always tomorrow "tomorrow is a lovely day" they should write a song about it. Cheers Frank.
Hi Frank, like half the country, I have a nasty cold and I'm, consequently, in a rather poor mood. I know tomorrow is another day, but is it going to be a less dull day???
Hi Phaidra, ME Too, I think that is what this world has become now Me too. Arose this morning to a frigid bedroom getting over 5 days of a cold, Joanne my lovely lady cleaner had turned the heating off whilst doing her usual brilliant yesterday job and forgotten to turn it back on. A long hot shower sorted me out. After two and a half years in the Middle east, I found continuous sunshine was not what it is cracked up to be, another song in my head, a run of ten months without rain was certainly not my thing. We have the best weather in the world, sun, rain, storm or snow I will take it any day, you will never catch me doing the winter months in Spain. Which ever way you enter this country it shines like an emerald, a green lawn on a blue background, beautiful. Weather never lasts long in one mode so tomorrow can be lovely or less worse or even a bit worse but it will not last a straight week (no rain for ten months). Accept what we have is my motto, it changes by the hour. Frank
