    I waas in Morrisons once and saw a veg display for Thai food, there was a leaf plant that looked like redshank to me and it had that distinctive red blotch on the leaf at the same location, everything else about the plant also seemed similar...

    Probably Persicaria odorata  :)  used  a lot in Asian cooking :)
