Having backfilled a recent landscaping project at home with bought in blended topsoil, I was miffed to see that the beds have become a botanic garden of weeds during the 10 days I’ve been away. Annoying, yet on closer inspection, and more worryingly, I’ve got a Japanese knotweed suspect among the motley crew of weeds. The rhubarb coloured speckled hollow stems with alternate leaf nodes being the give away, yet the leaves themselves don’t seem to be the heart shaped ones synonymous with JNW. Any confirmation of what this is will be greatly received.
Thanks!
Ben

If the seeds are in the soil it’ll probably reappear for the next few years but you’ll soon learn to recognise it as a seedling.
