Is this normal?

I keep reading up, buying, and spending time on plants and my patio...

Is it time for an intervention?  :D

A medical intervention? An epiphany? A Monty visit?

All of the above... And perhaps moving further out so that I can afford a big garden!

It's very true. I'm not taking a holiday this year, so I'm investing in the outdoor space I'm lucky enough to have instead...

Yes, yes, keeping telling yourself that. It's all within budget. We know. ;)

I can’t remember when I had a holiday. I used to go to Appleby Horse fair but haven’t done that since 95.

... it's the bit where you say to yourself "I'm not doing X [holidays, new car, eating take aways, updating my phone, buying shoes] so I can buy this absolutely gorgeous little tree. I find that not having kids, pets or a car turns out to the best thing for this kind of thinking. I can always reflect on just how much money I would have spent. 😇 A new rose is really nothing in comparison. Honestly.

This also works for taking flights and with other dodgy environmental decision making.

In the sense of 'I haven't added to the over population of the world so I could fly to Greece and back x many times before I ever got close to most of my child bearing neighbours' carbon footprint'?
