Have a look at Silene coeli...
I've been looking at Silenes, I think that's close

Corncockle is Agrostemma githago, not Silene!

That's common corncockle. A synonym for that silene is Agrostemma coeli-rosa

but common Corncockle is Agrostemma githago, not A. coeli-rosa and has those pointy 'leaves' round the flowers

That silene is a corncockle and it looks right to me.
I agreed with Buttercupdays that it's Silene coeli-rosa, synonym Agrostemma coeli-rosa, a corncockle not common corncockle but a corncockle. Is that outdated now? It certainly was considered a corncockle at one time and still seems to have that synonym.

I've never heard a common name for this one but Googled and found 'Rose of Heaven'

  • As requested by Papi Jo we have taken another picture of the flower which I had just watered very carefully - there are a few flowers, so we have taken it of a different one, you can see the slim pointy flower buds (not the big hairy poppy bud), which I hope will help in the identification.  It is such a delicate flower I am sure that IF it rains the poor thing will be finished.

Thanks for the much better photo, @Guernsey Donkey2 which confirms the ID given by @Buttercupdays.
