I learn a lot more from Beechgrove than I do GW. I also like that they do trials of different veg and plants and taste tests.
I know Jim loves his Rosella toms and I tried them and love them and I've been picking them for the last 2 weeks.
The best bit about being down sarf is that we're weeks ahead of them.
I recall Carol showing  a 6" coleus (choc covered cherry) that she was proud of last year (and rightly so) mine of the same variety were nearly 2ft tall at the same time :)

Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit.
Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad.

I can never understand why people sow two seeds together and throw one away, do they germinate better if they have company?
    Some of us sow four:

One to rot, and one to grow."

@josusa47, to be fair, MD's garden regularly sits under flood water and he's never claimed to be a professional gardener .

I think we all make mistakes, gardening is a learning curve you are always learning and improving, like mentioned above Monty doesn't count himself as a professional.

I think we need to think bigger picture..in a world dominated by social media, celebraty this, love island that mainstream media has in my eyes been dumbed down. You can see gws is desperately trying to a apeal to new audiences...with its variety of guest presenters...some good and some woeful...some just their to tick a few boxes ( the less said about that the better).

My point is gw's simply can't appeal to just us hardcore gardners. It needs to appeal to a much wider audience. My wife is the perfect example she enjoys monty as he communicates in a fashion to appeal to most..she is put off by Carol klein as an example as I guess she finds her inaccessible.
That's the problem without a main presenter who can relate to the masses, whose garden or gardning isn't perfect the beeb would loose a sizable chunk of its viewership.
I think of some of the previous presenters and I fail to see how their style would succeded in 21st century dumped down britain

I shall continue to sow one seed per module. I’m not paying out for seeds to throw half to two thirds away.

@B3 as in 'That's definitely one to watch!' or at least record. I stopped watching much TV when it all got silly and serials turned into series which get broadcast in an odd order or stopped completely and interesting subject matter was drowned in emotional angst. So just stick to 'good' stuff, hence a list to remind me when to set the recorder.

@Jason-3 whilst I love my garden I'm not sure I am a 'hardcore gardener' but these days the GW content is less relevant to me. Carol K is great because she knows her stuff and clearly wants to share that knowledge, just wish there was a bit more everyday gardening. There are moments, like how to make compost (although that was mostly talking and not showing) and it is good to stop and take stock and enjoy your garden - but I know how to do that  :)
