Unknown plant ...

Does anyone know what this is?  I pulled it up last year as it looked like a weed but decided to let it grow this year.  I thought it might be Cow Parsley but on closer inspection it looks like it might be Hemlock ...

Too big to load given my internet speeds and I'm not the only one with such problems.  Can you resize it to make it about 1mb?

Well it is an umbellifer, but can you show the leaves and the overall shape of plant?
  • Not sure if this photo will help but it's about 5ft high and the leaves look like carrot leaves
  • Sorry, bit of a technophobe - is this better?

I can confirm it's neither Hogweed, Cow Parsley or Hemlock. Does that help at all?
Hemlock has thick spotted stems and the other two have less lacy leaves

It is not Hemlock as the leaves are wrong - I'm assuming that the fine feathery leaves belong to the plant? It looks like a wild carrot to me - Daucus carota. Picture below:

  • Thanks very much for this.  Yes, the leaves do belong to the plant.  Is it safe to leave it as it is or is it a weed that needs removing.  Hopefully, the former as it's quite pretty ...

    Agree with Daucus carota ID.
Photo size is a real problem, not just on this forum. People do not realize how huge their photos can be when posted straight out of their smart-phone. First picture posted by OP was: weight 7 555,02 Ko (7 736 343 octets) and dimensions 4 000px × 3 000px which is really enormous. When I post pics here I reduce them to a maximum of 600 Ko and 1024 px. There are many ways to reduce photo weight and size, but it does take time and some know-how. See this discussion.

  • I am sorry the size of my photos has caused consternation.  I am not a computer expert ...
