I planted germidour and cristo October time so they had time to develop and establish and then I planted casablanca in January! I got great crops and very good sized cloves from all - I did babysit them all winter though! And I mulched with compost during the freezing weather and kept the weeds down from spring time - if you look up the garlic farm they offer advice on growing garlic ...when you get freeze thawing conditions keep an eye on the garlic as it can heave out of the soil a bit - I found piling the compost around actually held them firm - it worked for me and is worth a try
I was quite disappointed when i harvested mine, though I knew from this poll that I had probanly planted too late. It was so small, though had formed into cloves. However, having dried it and started to use it, it's delicious and extremely POWERFUL! What it lacks in size it makes up for in punch. I'll plant in October this year and see what difference it makes.
