Sweet Peas not flowering

I have planted sweet peas in a container. The container is approx 750mm long x 350mm wide x 250mm deep. I have planted 4 plants along one long side with Sweet Williams down the centre. So far the S/Peas have reached about 800mm up the trellis but are seemingly very reluctant to go any higher or to provide flowers, whilst the Sweet Williams are flowering profusely. I've been watering regularly with Tomorite being added roughly every week. Last year in a similar layout (but much shallower planter) and no Sweet Williams and they were covered in flowers.
Is there any reason for this tardiness in the S/Peas?

  • I never mix sweet peas with other plants, sweet peas like lots of water and do not like competing with other plants for moisture.
  • Do you reckon it will be OK to whip the S/Williams out and replant them elsewhere?

My Matucana started flowering on 30 June. Perhaps a species and microclimate influence?

Are they getting lots of light? Any buds look like forming? Are they from seed?

I've been picking quite big bunches for the last fortnight, the white ones have longer stems!

Neither my annual sweet peas or roses have much scent. A reaction to high heat, I would imagine.
