"Teaspoons in the heather was always a sure sign of prolonged dry weather when I was growing up - Mum would always empty the washing up water onto the flowers beds".

I find teaspoons in the compost bin sometimes and all sorts of odd things. I think, "what daft twit put that in there? Oh, wait...."
  • I was thinking , maybe in a drought the leaves curled up like teaspoons ...
PS  my teaspoon is one of my favourite greenhouse tools. It has lasted some years and I chase it when I mislay it...😂
  • And I worry about what I put in the compost bin. I used to gaily chuck away teabags. Then I realised that the ones with little cardboard holder-things actually had little staples holding them together.  Don't want to find staples in my compost! Now I cut the bags off for the green caddy, and chuck the bits with the staples. 😊
O, the joys and tribulations of eco....😂

I don't compost t-bags any more as they are made of plastic and spend too much time picking out little plastic nets from my beds.

We use Barry's t-bags........they fully compost......other brands didn't.  I do tear them in half before I put them in the bin, maybe that helps the breaking down process?

Traidcraft sells biodegradable teabags, I buy them online, along with their coffee, scrumptious biscuits, marmalade, sugar, dried fruit, and 100% recycled "bathroom stationery".

    - Barry's tea bags - working on it.

@josusa47 - could you send me a link to the teabags? I would love to buy them. All Traidcraft ones I find are made of plastic.

There has been a bit of an outcry over the last year and many tea companies are in the midst of an overhaul. PG have gone biodegradable since Feb this year and others have followed.

I switched to loose leaf tea a few years ago. You get several brews from a good quality tea and much less packaging waste.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.
