Completely different clematiscrazy! Both the colour and formation of the petals. You can’t say gardening is boring - we are constantly being surprised. I’ve not been growing from seed for long - I’ve only had my greenhouse 2 years. Is it usual that some plants - even bought from reputable nurseries - don’t always come true?
I did a few Sarah Raven seeds this year and I’ve been really impressed with all of them. I did nicotiana too (although the purple variety) and they look like those on the packet. I’ve had some plants before look more ‘washed out’ in colour than the supplier’s images, but attributed that to my heavy clay soil.
Thank you - we live and learn and that’s what I enjoy about gardening. Ive learnt that I won’t be buying the Lime Green or maybe they should be renamed Limey Yellow minor. 🤨
Ive learnt over the years to not buy seeds from an expensive, showy company, in a fancy packet, (especially T & M I get the cheapest I can, lots of reputable sellers on eBay or amazon, most 99p post free and just as good if not better. They just arrive in a little plastic zippy bag and all been good. Ive only ever had one lot that didn’t do well on germination, I wrote and told them and they sent another packet. No question. Wilco are good, as are their plants, I bought some gorgeous dahlias for Hosta and myself, every one was good.
Gardening on the wild, windy west side of Dartmoor.
Hello Buttercup, thank you for that information. Well now I feel diddled and miffed at the Sarah Raven website because they have pictured N. Alata but sold me N. Langsdorfii 😯
