I've just returned from a weekend in York, attacking the overgrown garden (son & DIL's) and playing with our 7-month grandson. Happy Granny!
So sorry your OH is in pain, Wonky - and yours too, Glenys. Hope you soon see improvement in both of them.
No rain in sight here. Some primulas in my garden won't survive, in spite of regular watering - I think it's just too hot. But the amount and quality of the flowers on the roses etc is incredible this year.
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
By the time I took the dogs out all the clouds had gone. They managed to find a roe deer on the edge of a wheat field and chased her - no catchee but much painting. Still panting now.
The clouds are slowly coming back but the forecast has changed again to 20mm. The ground isn't hard, just bone dry. When OH left 2 weeks ago it was cool, cloudy and damp but now, after just one week of heatwave the grass looks parched. I've had the sprinkler out on the potatoes, fartichokes, sweet potatoes and sweetcorn. Maybe that'll bring on the rain.
Liri - our hedgerows round here are chock full of primroses and cowslips and bluebells. They all survive the heat and come back in spring.
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

The young couple who are buying our cottage came today with her mother who lives up the road. They are lovely, we hadn't met before. Then we visited gardens in a village which is trying to raise funds for re-thatching their church. One garden was particularly beautiful, not very big but crammed with lovely plants, flowers, veg, roses and a pond.
Our friends arrived who are singing in the concert in Ely Cathedral with OH in the choir on Wednesday. Early start for them so off to bed. Sleep well all.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
I wonder whether that might be something to do with it Hosta ... It seems to me that you have a worse nights sleep after one of your long days at work.
Good morning all

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Really enjoyed my weekend of sunning myself - felt like being on holiday. Not looking forward to working in the sunshine, although this week I have Hampton Court and a Forkers trip to look forward to, so not many office days.
just seen two woodpecker chicks on the feeders at the same time - so looks like Mr & Mrs Woody have quite a brood this year - lovely to see 😀
Glad you had a lovely weekend @chicky ... sounds like a lovely week ahead too. This week the major roadworks start at the junction which is the only route into this part of the village ... we may be cut off from the rest of the world until September
Everyone ready for Wimbledon!?!?!

Good morning. Lots of thundery bits in the night, starting as I went to bed but no rain till later on so a bit of a broken night. However, we've had 19.3mm so they were almost right. Now I'm being shouted at by some very noisy sparrows so not a peaceful morning so far but a quiet day in store so that's OK.
Hope everyone's got a good day in store.

A 12 hour shift yesterday clearly wasn't enough to guarantee a good sleep. I've been awake since 1am.

Not a cloud to be seen here. Lucky you having rain.
