Yes, but they did know enough not to kill all the bison just for the hell of it or to over exploit a water hole or plant before moving on so the herd/water/crops could recover.   They had that balance at least.

Arguably. I think there is a great tendency to romanticise these peoples as having perfect insight and care.
There is some evidence of animal extinctions occuring rather coincidentaly with human occupations of lands. Without wanting to start a whole debate I firmly blame religion for a lot of the problems. Prayer has long been the get out of jail free card for a lot of problems. "if we mess up really badly our god will save us" kind of thing or "man has superiority over the beast of the earth".
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.
  • If god does exist then is man not doing as he commanded? I personally think man has taken it too far but God has not stopped us yet.

    Genesis 1:26-28

26 Then God said, “Let Us make man in our image, after our likeness, to rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, and over all the earth itself and every creature that crawls upon it.”

27 So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.

28 God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth and subdue it; rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and every creature that crawls upon the earth.”…

That was all written by a man!  Maybe even Men but definitely with an agenda and a thirst for power over the environment.

There was a couple of little ‘darlings’ in Lidl this morning that could have done with being eaten. 😡
