    I have clay soil and it goes really hard in this dry weather despite compost and mulch. Strangely i find that penstemons do really well and dont suffer from the dry.

    They red one is 'schoenholzeri' and the other is 'white bedder' i think but i lost the card that went with it.

    The red one looks a pinkish red in the photo but to the eye its more of a ruby/cherry red. They are so easy to grow and seem to suffer very few problems
