@AnniD Here is the ruffian. Please tell your husband to take care. As I said, I have pruned this many a time but yesterday was the first time I have used a saw to get through really tough branches. Maybe a different sap in the woody bits?

Thanks PP and Fairy. I didn't go to A/E but feel a lot better (and relieved) today.

I am going to indulge myself today, pig out on whatever I want and watch sport, grateful that I can still see the TV. B)

Mint choc chip ice-cream, Nute**a out of the jar...whatever it takes!  :D

    Thanks Hazel :)

Had to go out to clear up the cuttings and wash the area down before some poor unfortunate soul got something on their clothing. Saw and clippers washed, clothing and towels in the washing machine.

    Now, where's that Nute**a and spoon? >:)

@Daisy33, thanks for the photo, it looks like the same type as my MIL's cotoneaster. He has cut it back before, but is cutting it further this year to lower the height. He's promised to take care ! Hope the nut stuff or cure of choice keeps working !

I'm glad to hear you are feeling much better this morning, not a pleasant thing to happen.  I always keep anti-histamines in the house, just in case.

Thank you @Hazel 1 and @Mary370 for your good wishes. My eyeballs still feel as if they have been sandpapered but otherwise back to normal.

Now I have to lose the 5lbs I put on eating all that ice cream and nute**a. :s  :|

Don’t know if it was psychosomatic but I was just pulling a lot of bindweed out of my cotoneaster and ended up with tingling/stinging on my arms.

    Didnt cut anything though.

N**la on icecream sounds quite glorious. I hope things are feeling more settled. Things going badly wrong with eyes is so alarming.
