  • 15 minutes heavy shower yesterday and a light shower the other day but here in York has been hot and dry for 6 weeks. All rain butts empty. Doing washing up in a bowl and using that water and a  hosepipe unfortunately as I'm on a water meter. Will try mulching next spring.

Still no rain here in Cheshire other than the pavements were slightly damp.  I was trying to stake some plants and the soil was too hard to get  them in.
We need a 1976 drought minister to make it rain.  (Well it is not quite that bad yet.)

Ir's been exceptionally dry here too.  A few little showers over the last couple of days but no substantial rainfall.  Ground is rock hard and some plants are definitely suffering more than others.

No rain here (West Berkshire) since the crazy thunderstorms of weeks ago, bar some noticeable light rain this morning, with more forecast tonight. Thankfully.

A miserable situation for all of us! I have even given up showering in favour of baths. I can recycle that water more easily! Haven't worked out how to save water from the shower yet....

It rained (or snowed) continually here from last July until April, since when we've had one decent day's rain. I'm very much hoping the pattern doesn't repeat - I'd rather have a few frazzled annuals and some decent sunshine for a few weeks than go back to a constant downpour. Even though it does mean fewer beans off the runners.

Guess who reseeded their lawn here in N. Essex? I'm on a water meter but needs must - I can't face starting again.

During the whole of 2017 we had 23.5cms of rain in what turned out to be 15 months of drought round here tho on a par with parts of Essex in a normal year.

The drought broke in mid December and we have had 226cms since then - 2 years' worth of normal rain and everything is lush and green and the pond is full.   Normal service is forecast to resume tomorrow with warm, dry weather for a couple of weeks.

I've been spending 40/50 minutes each evening watering newly planted beds and pots from three different hoses.  6-7 week draught. we finally had a deluge on saturday, a good proper soaking....and our sandy soil lets it just fall through.  looks however like we have sunshine for the foreseeable....won't be planting so many new beds next year, it's too stressful trying to look after them all!!  whoever called gardening relaxing?  Is that when you have largely 'finished' your garden and can just potter.....you know, THAT dream!!?

We'd had no rain since end of May, but guess what, had a very sharp but short shower during our Saturday open day and it kept trying to drizzle during the Sunday one and rained overnight. Today it's been sunny most of the day (!) but looks like more rain is on its way. Water butts are thankfully full again.
