Can anyone recommend an expandable hose which is not made in China?
You’ll be lucky. It seems impossible to find much that isn’t made in China, and hard to find out where it is made without actually looking at the product. I did complain to John Lewis that products on their website don’t state where they are manufactured. I notice that most of their own brand products that I’ve looked at recently, do state where they are made, so I suppose that’s a start.

I got one in April and it’s still going strong. I use it almost every day.

It was from the online shop of online shops BUT I’ve seen the brand in high street stores since I purchased it.

I’ll see if I can find the name of it

I love mine - it's a life saver. I use it every day for half the year. It's so light and easy to use, but I have a small garden, under four metres wide. One did get chewed by baby foxes but aside from that, I am delighted.

I know long standing members of the forum with large gardens don't like them as they feel they are not as robust as other types of hose pipes. It wouldn't suit a larger garden. But as someone with various health and back issues, my hose has made life much easier.

Mine is a Hozelock, no doubt made in China. I have used other, cheaper types that didn't work well. I support the drive to buy things not made in China, for sure.

My first one lasted a good year before bursting and the second one which was better quality lasted a couple of weeks, wouldn’t buy one again.

Ours was bought in Lidl, couldn’t find out where it was made. It’s also been a godsend. We have a large garden, but it reaches quite a long way. The beauty of it is not having to drag it back to the outside tap, although I find it quite scary to watch it shrinking back down!. It does mean I’m inclined to use it more, unreeling and reeling back the old style one was quite hard work so I tended to put off using it. This is our second one. The first lasted quite a few years, and this one is going strong. Our old conventional hose got nibbled by mice when we left it out.

As I have said elsewhere, I think water pressure, full sun exposure etc plays a large part in longevity. I make sure not to leave mine out in full sun. My water pressure is low.

    I spoke too soon.

I was chatting to a neighbour the other day and tugged the hose not realising it was wrapped around the low wall near the front door......

    Bin, meet hose pipe.

    .
A brilliant idea, especially on first time use.

In practise after that, not so, as they are inclined to kick the bucket!
  • I've had mine for four years now. Chinese and bought from Amazon.  It's great.  I use it a lot for garden watering and with my pressure washer.
