Name this flower

Good afternoon, I was given these flowers in a bunch of flowers. Can anyone put a name to it? I would really like to see if I can grow them in my own garden. Thank you in advance.

    I think you're right @AnniD  :)

  • They are slightly tender but can be grown in the ground with care, but I grow mine in containers as they might get waterlogged in winter in my garden. I put them in my greenhouse in winter to protect them from frost.

I just buy bunches of them, strip the leaves to above the waterline and put them in a big blue and white jug. They last for weeks and are one of my favourites. I doubt my climate would cope with me growing them outdoors.

I have them in a very wet windy Devon, they spread and come up each year, I didn’t even know they were tender.  My daughter has to dig them out as they spread so fast.

The secret to keeping them flowering well is to give the old dead flower a shark tug so the whole stalk comes out from the ground.

While out today I called into a garden centre and the first display I came across was full of Alstroemerias so I just had to buy one! Beautiful isn’t it!
