That's interesting @stephentame - the opposite of what you'd think. I suppose it also depends on the quality of the timber it's being compared to though. I think you're right about the centres though. There's a lot of recycled plastic being used for seating etc for gardens, which has to be a good thing.

I expect it can be put back in and recycled again, like they do with bottles etc @Dovefromabove. Better than us shipping it abroad to get dumped Never an easy solution to plastic, but at least if it's being put to use, that's always something. The big problem is the stuff that 'leaks out' of the recycling centres and ends up in the sea.

Yes … on a large scale I expect it does @Fairygirl … but if I’ve got a builder making me a patio or shed out of plastic ‘timber’ what happens to the sawdust?
It’s just more plastic waste going into the soil, thence to the watercourses and out into the oceans along with all the other micro plastics isn’t it?

Ah - I see what you mean @Dovefromabove. I've no idea, but I wonder if, when it's a shed or similar, the sections are cut to the length during manufacture, so there wouldn't be any sawing being done? Really don't know though. Any time I've had to saw plastic, there hasn't really been any shavings though.

I've just noticed part of my first post from yesterday has a bit missing. Never mind - the spammer is missing too
