Decapitated chives

Went out this morning to do a round of inspection and i saw to my dismay that half of my chive flowers were completely decapitated and lying on the ground. I grow them for kitchen use but the bees love the flowers so I'm wondering what on earth would do this?

Its been rather windy lately but a third clump about 6 feet away are unaffected. I've never seen anything like that before. Maybe someone here has an idea.

Loads of things in my garden look like that at the moment, but I know why.
Three of my sheep have learned to jump the fences that have successfully kept sheep in for 30+ years. I am at my wit's end to stop them, but can't help with your problem, though it's probably birds.

Definately no sheep. Could it be doves or wood pigeons? I get those regularly but ive not seen them on the flower beds.

It's probably a bird landing on it or a cat jumping through the bed. The wood pigeons in my garden cause a lot of damage like that. They're not the most graceful of animals.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

Are you sure someone is not picking them off and eating them, I do that, but I haven’t eaten yours😀

I've got two pugs and one of them likes to eat my chives. She sidles over to them when she thinks I'm not looking, but the happy chomping noises give her away. I know onions are poisonous to dogs but that doesn't seem to apply to chives!

Not sure what has caused it, but each decapitation looks very neat - I would imagine any cat damage would have caused a more ragged tear on each plant...! Yours look like they've been snipped by something sharp.

Be interested to find out what has caused, it, though!
