I’m not... about a mile from nearest, but neighbours around here also have ponds and we have fields at the back. They forage in a similar way to frogs so need cover... long grass, plants, cool spots etc..
They crawl quite a way from ponds, we have several ponds around 50m down from the house (I live in a bog) but before we replaced the front door the old one had a little hole in it, and we found several newts in our hallway! Not a good place for a newt, some were decidedly crispy. (Not all some were taken back outside)
I'd love to have them, been thinking of setting up a wildlife pond,we have a nearby spring,I wonder if they hang around them? The photos are amazing, you have captured the little face on him very well!

I’d highly recommend a pond if you can cazgo. I spend hours at ours, it’s the first place I go with my morning cuppa and last place I go with a glass of wine! Mine is new, but is already fascinating! Lucky for us that my next door neighbour gave us frog/toad spawn as his fish were eating it! But even without the taddies, just watching the pond skaters, water boatmen and beetles etc is a joy! The birds bathe, bees drink... just so wonderful!
I know,it is exciting! We always had a pond, till we went to Spain. But this time I don't want fish, just all the other little creatures,I'd like to have a beach for them to climb in and out and Sundays. We kept Koi before, but they aren't as interesting, though my hubby would disagree! Would it still need a pump?I know newts aren't keen on moving water,or water lillies.
