I have actually grown (do grow) Sarcococcaand find they don't do well on my dry soil in sun. They lose the shiny dark green of the leaves and look rather sad. S. wallichii went too far and didn't recover. In dry shade they are brilliant
Freddies Dad, I have grown Sarcoccoca Confusa in semi shade on clay soil and they were fine, but have not ever planted them in sun. I appreciate your comments about full sun. I based that view on what I have seen growing on the estate where I live now, and there are loads of these shrubs here, the ones growing in full sun have gone yellow and have lost nearly all their leaves.
It was planted in a semi shaded area in a damp soil now it is in a slightly sunnier area where it is more free draining so fingers crossed! Thanks everyone for your help.
the leaves the leaves on my sarcocossa have fallen off and it looks sparse and sad, it’s in a pot on a north facing wall. Do I prune or any advice please
My sarcococca is planted in the ground ... it is growing quite a bit and keeps the soil beneath it quite dry. Could yours have suffered from lack of water?
