If you have mole hills it's probably only one or two moles causing them.

You must dig a trench and fill with compost and manure for runner beans (not)

That water wicks in soil - if you put a pot of earth in a saucer or tub of water, the water will rise near the top of the pot. It really depends on all sorts of things but it is a surprisingly ill-founded rule of thumb.

No matter how dead a plant looks, if you scratch the bark and see something green it will be OK

Using broken-up polystyrene is a good substitute for rocks or broken pots to provide drainage at the bottom of your planters. (The key feature of polystyrene is that, unlike rocks, it floats, so if your planter is flooded with rain, the polystyrene floats to the top)

Oh, and another one: a compost heap has to be turned regularly. (Just leave it for a year. It'll be fine.)

Putting down two overlapping layers of thick cardboard at the bottom of a new raised bed stops perennial weeds  - not here it doesn’t!

If it's been stacked properly , yes, but otherwise, if you turn it , it'll be ready in a much shorter time.
