Check for red spider mites under the leaves.. I bet you'll find they are having a party under there.

I had the same, on oregano too. I always thought it was a kind of rust.

If it is red mites, cut off the majority of affected growth (it will help your plant bush out more anyway).. and then keep the area a bit more moist.  Mist the plant every day for a week, sort of spraying up under the leaves to where they hide.

  • @Blue Onion I checked but no, no spiders or any moving type of insect as far as I am concerned ... And I have an eye for insects If there were any I would have seen them 😀

Good news!  I suggest you just cut off all the infected growth, give it a mild feed, and see what happens.

Another idea might be powdery mildew.. did you notice a bit of powdery substance on the infected leaves?  If so.. do the same as above, cut back and let the new growth come in.  Is it inside?  Harden it off over a few days and get it outside if you can.. that will help too.

This type of thing. I assume they have the same type of rust in Cairo. I did get ride of my mint in the end, which was a shame, as I love it. I'm going to start some more, from seed, in a pot, in a different part of the garden. See the above link for what the RHS suggest. My oregano has it every year, but it hasn't seemed to harm the plant growth and the bees love it, so I have kept it.
  • @Blue Onion I stand corrected.... I took out my flash light and waited till it's a bit dark hoping that I would see more clearly and there they were ...they are more crowded on the younger smaller leaves which I didn't look at earlier ..... I guess that would be the red spider mite that you meant ???
