That's interesting. I might just put some ericaceous compost in the new strawberry bed when it's built. I've seen somewhere else that planting them near perfumed plants enhances flavour too.
Bit smelly here. I sanded down and cleaned one cupboard door before the noon curfew for noisy machines and despite multiple washing my hands still smell of the magic potion I use to feed wood and help remove the last bits of varnish in crevices. Add to that a roly poly Rasta stink and all is lovely here. Best go outside again.

After a bit of shaky , slow start I romped on and got 12 waterlilies into the pond and some perennial lobelia planted around the edge. I managed to get a chunk ( 6 inch diameter ) of gunnera removed and re-sited down on the edge of the lake. Hubby did some weeding/ mulching and we've just stopped for lunch as the rain has just started.
I've taken advantage of the continued sunshine and washed the quilted mattress protector on the spare bed as we have visitors arriving soon after we get back from our holibobs, so we're actually getting ahead of ourselves
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
You're lucky with the weather Dove. Wet and windy here since lunchtime. Rushing for the bus this morning I tripped over the kerb. I now have a face like a defeated boxer and will need new specs
Perhaps you need new specs anyway to see the kerb! It sounds very painful. I hope you heal well and soon. Tea and cake are called for, or coffee and chocolate if your prefer.
