Looking for POT inspiration

Hi
I have a beautiful terracotta pot and am looking to do it justice with some thoughtful planting ideas.  I have attached a picture of the pot, which has quite a small opening but a wide middle.
does anyone have any ideas of what would look good in such a pot.  May be some height and also something cascading down the sides.

Many Thanks, Rob

A bush called the bride bush(sorry not sure of its proper name) has delacte stems with lots of white flowers in spring. Will leave room around it for spring/summer bedding of your choice. It droops slightly too so is nice in a pot.

Doubt you will get more than one plant in there.
I would go for a grass, one of the Miscanthus', would look good.
    COYS.

Bear in mind that whatever you put in is in for good unless you use annuals or something with small roots. The roots will fill the pot and you'll have to break it to get them out.

I was just about to post almost the exact same comment.
That's what I had to do with one of my favourite pots a while back

I'm old enough (just) to remember Geoff Hamilton doing exactly that. He took a hammer to it and I've never forgotten it.

Why do they sell pots that shape?  Oh silly me, of course, so we'll have to break them and buy more..

Did just buy one that shape as the husband liked it, but told him it would have to be broken if the plant needed repotting .lol. 😁
  • I suggest that you use it for the kind of plants which people use in hanging baskets rather than planting things directly in it.  If you get a plastic pot which will fit into the top of it, then put some rubble into the base of the pot itself it would be quite stable. If you can't find a plastic pot which is exactly the same diameter as the "hole" at the top you can make a downward cut into its rim and then push the pot into the pot beneath.  This has worked for me, and when the plants grow a bit you don't see the plastic pot at all. Easy to replace things later because you can take the whole plastic pot out.
