    Oh dear, it is just as I thought! I don't believe there is an easy solution. Slug pellets help a bit but many of us don't use them because of wildlife, children, pets etc. Nematodes help, too, if you can afford them, but I believe the ground may be too cold for them to do much at this time of year? In my own experience, grit, wool, coffee grounds and all the rest have no effect at all but copper bands do. I go out each night and pick them off, I have reduced the most vulnerable plants and I try to clear up leaf litter and turn over stones and so on. Birds and toads and hedgehogs simply cannot dispatch these numbers but regular picking is making a difference. Do you remember when kids used to sneer, "Get a life..."?!!!

    Oh I do Posy! I couldn't believe myself last night and only stopped when my back seized up. I must have looked a sight - but needs must. I don't think I'll tell my kids what I've been up to tho! 😄👵🏻

    Oh I remember it well and I said it myself.
    I got a life and I worked long and hard to make it the one I wanted. Ha! Stick that in your pipe and smoke it young people!
