What you say about churchgoers is absolutely typical ; most of those are unenlightened hypocrites anyway . Yes, I'm afraid churches are full of sinful people.  For the same reason hospitals are full of sick people.
When an old lady friend of my wifes died a few years ago , she had several colleagues who were infected with the brain-virus known as religion ; not a single one of them called to see her in hospital in her last days dying of cancer .

Marlorena :- Over 2000 views on this thread so far ; is that a record I ask ?

Sorry, I don't know how that happened.  I was trying to quote and comment, and my comment has somehow integrated itself into the material I was quoting.  Clearly I'm not as well up as I should be with how the new website works.

This is what I call thieving, from a similar kind of situation:-

When I saw this property for sale, it was empty, the previous owners had passed away, intestate.  It was supposed to be sold partly furnished but the only item left was an American fridge freezer [they couldn't get it out].   They, in this case, were 3 local residents all of whom purloined anything they could get their hands on from the property.  One of them had the keys as 'caretaker'.   Even the t.v. aerial on the roof was gone.

All this occurred when it was still 'for sale', and not 'sold', not that this makes any difference.   Plants in the garden, so I found out, were also taken, I know where they've gone too, and worst of all for me, an 8 x 6 greenhouse was taken down and resited in a neighbours garden not 100 yards from me - I see it every day.   I had to spend £500 on a new one..
I'm friendly with all these people, they know I know, but it's never discussed.  I heard about it from others.

Strangely, they all have one thing in common.  They're all Church goers, every one of them. I see them toddling off to Church every Sunday.    I am not a church goer and couldn't do what they did.  If they also stole statuary or very large shrubs from the garden, I would also consider that thieving, but a few small alpines or shrublets - not something I would get worked up over to be honest.

The moral to this story is that morals soon go by the wayside when it suits.

Paul B3, the person who originally planted that garden, sounds like a plantswoman?... I'm sure she would be delighted to know they're gone to a good home..
It's quite true that churches are full of sinful people.  Would you expect a hospital to be full of healthy people?  Christians are no better than anyone else. The difference is that we know we are sinners, we want to be forgiven.  By being part of the church, we learn how.   (Phew! Got the technology right this time!)

Oh the perils and joys of social media. As this forum is fully Googlable (quite unusual) I would fully expect coverage of this row to be reported in the Daily Mail. "Gardeners' World plans to rob dead pensioner" shocker, "Monty Don refuses to comment on sordid alpine affair".

Just an update on my somewhat 'heated' and debateable thread from April !

Talking to a neighbour who knew the deceased very well (this morning) ; the property has been sold to a couple of semi-retired people from Cornwall ; they love the garden and apparently appreciate plants that may be classified as 'slightly different' .

Hopefully will speak to them soon , and wish them all the best in their new home .

(PS , I'm pleased the aforementioned plants are safe ; I was genuinely concerned for their welfare ).

So I am walking past a hedge being pruned and I pick up a few bits of the prunings from the floor before they are collected to see if they might root?  Is that theft?

No , not what I would call theft !
I am obsessed with plants and simply wanted to save from possible destruction four or more seldom seen species .
I actually took a small piece of the Jeffersonia and the Sanguinaria , to no detriment whatsoever to the 'parent' plant . They are now thriving and will be propagated by myself and eventually distributed to others .

The discussion at the time got slightly heated and I am now pleased that the garden is going to be in good hands .
Hopefully no ill feeling amongst other forum members !

To which 'god' are you referring to ?
As an ardent atheist I find the reference quite disturbing !
