All of the above - but then the first will maybe be true in about 10 or 15 years' time because I have dreams about how well-planted it will be with dry zones, sunny beds, shade zones, wildlife friendly plants and nooks and crannies and a thriving fruit and veg plot.
The second is true in the sense that there is a great deal of grass and we have trees and hedges round all the boundaries and only one or two well tended beds so far.
The third is true because I have all sorts of plants in pots acquired from various plant fairs, nurseries and brought with me but not yet planted cos we haven't been able to make their new homes yet.
You need a 4th option for work in progress with planty ambitions.

My garden has grass in the middle with bits and pieces of shrub and plant scattered around the edges.
I suppose mine is grass with plants and shrubs around the edge. The majority is inherited, with some very mature shrubs and trees and this gives a background for my own ideas, planting and injection of colour. It's interesting to inherit plants which you wouldn't have chosen yourself (I'm looking at you neon pink Azalea!) - do you dig up or embrace?? Sometimes I think I have a dolly-mixture of colours going on but usually I just enjoy any plant as long as it is healthy.
My garden is a well balanced, carefully thought out dream and could pose for fancy magazines.
I have to vote for 1 as neither of the other 2 fit. I don't think it is 1 but I like to think it has a bit more thought put into it than either of the other 2!!

My garden looks as if my whole family jumped out of the car, put whatever they fancied in the trolley then rushed home and planted it.
I set off with my purchases from last week and planted them all side by side in the newly discovered round bed. 1 Moorheim beauty, 1 Goldstrum, 1 Dicentra (pink naturally to fit in) and one Japanese anemone white! Fruit Salad Monthly here we come! Watch and learn PF watch and learn. Obes my problem is impatience! I have all the plans and none of the restraint.

I think my garden is summed up by the man who was canvassing for some political party or other. "Are you planning on tidying that up" as he pointedly looked at my front garden. Actually it's meant to look like that. No, he didn't get my vote.
