  • Hi Hazel, thanks for replying-Certainly similar but the flowers maybe had a bit more of an arc to them, less upright...

With flowers curled like that I believe it belongs in Boraginaceae
.......it reminds me of Phacelia...but obviously leaves are wrong.

I just cannot think what it is.

Comfrey was my first thought. Wait until/if it flowers and it might be easier to tell.
  • Hi there silver surfer-I live in east Scotland, looked up your suggestion and think possibly the flowers were white or pink?
Damp garden man I can repost when they bloom-there are some buds so shouldn’t be too long (if the sun would ever shine...). Thanks for replying

Agree with SS - could it be a heliotrope?
A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.

Agree with Damp garden Man, Comfrey, the little white early flowering one whose name I've forgotten.

    In the sticks near Peterborough

Maybe Creeping Comfrey (Symphytum grandiflorum) ; flowers begin as pink then turn white . Very early flowering .
  • Definitely not a heliotrope, very similar leaves though... thanks everyone, I hope it is comfrey so I can make some liquid feed out of it... 👍
