Hi all
just spotted this odd branch in my forsythia..any idea why it’s grown like this and whether I should remove!?

Its fasciated. The growing tip was damaged at some point and it does that.

It wont harm the plant. If you prune it out at usual pruning time it is unlikey to reoccur.

The previous thread is so interesting!! I’ve been out inspecting mine and pondering over it with visitors over the Easter weekend, so it’s interesting to see other examples.

I seem to get more than my fair share. I think it is because it is often insect damage of the growing tip, and I don't spray things ( except for lily beetle)
