    Looking at your shrubs , if any are 'out of hand' , they will all respond and recover well to a drastic pruning should the need arise .

    @Sophie.e.solly Can I politely suggest you just do a couple at a time. I got lost scrolling up and down counting which photo was which. 
    Clearly  others are cleverer than me, or have a better memory , or both.

  • Good suggestion @Hostafan1, I’ll do that next time. 

    @PaulB3 I think there are quite a few that need a really good going over. I have a feeling that having never pruned a shrub before (!) I might have to learn quite quickly! Saying that I am trying to sit on my hands a bit until I have a better idea of what else is hiding. 
  • Oh, and one more thing ... some of the hellebores are still all foliage no flower.  Should they be out by now?

    Some varieties flower later in the year, foetida is one of these ... or you may have some young ones ... they usually take a couple to three years to flower, in my experience.  

    Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
