Garden waste...how do you deal with yours?

Bindweed, nettle roots and other noxious weeds go to the council. Prunings get shredded and added to the compost heap, as do all peelings, fruit skins, and grass cuttings. Over winter kitchen refuse proliferates in one bin. When we get the new season grass cuttings it all gets mixed up again.

Be super organised and divide into piles for shredding, composting etc.
We have 7 different compost bins and a clamp for grass cuttings that we mix with leaves, plus a shredder.  And nasty weeds and so on get drowned before either going into compost bin or in the case of nettles being turned into liquid plant food.  Our shredder is fairly useless so every now and then we get someone with a professional shredder to come by and turn our huge pile of prunings into wonderful shredded mulch.

I've filled a black wheelie bin in the last few weeks with garden waste that's too woody/too much to compost. Have 2 compost bins, one's in progress, the other is full of turf I've lifted from the front garden - this'll go back there in a few months.

Bin wise, we have recycling containers collected weekly, and then alternate weeks we have black bin collection (goes to the dump) and brown wheelie bin for food & garden waste. Council never gave us a brown wheelie bin (our neighbours have them!) so any garden waste not destined for the compost bin goes in the black wheelie.

I have 2 large compost bins and 2 council brown bins (standard is 1 but I asked nicely!). Food waste goes into the brown bin as well. They get emptied fortnightly 12 months a year. I also have the use of another 2 brown bins if I need them.
Our landfill bin is a half size one which gets emptied fortnightly. Plastics and paper, in separate bins, get emptied monthly. No collection for glass or textiles.

I have 3 compost bins that take grass cuttings, food peelings, tea bags, coffee grounds, fluff from dryer etc.
i have 2 old dust bins for leaf mould and I buy garden bags via the council to take weeds like ground elder, dandelion, docks and ivy.
i have an old tub by the compost full of rain water to which I add comfrey and nettles.
More woody prunings I burn and add the ash to the garden or compost bin.
food waste like stale bread, meat fats or any uneaten left overs go out to the birds. Joint bones go out for the foxes. Nothing edible goes in my wheely bin.

    Compost it only
I answered compost only but that's not strictly true. I try to compost as much as I can but some larger prunings from the buddleas, ribes for example I end up taking to the recycling centre. Some prunings that won't fit in the compost bins are dumped behind them to create cover for amphibians. I prefer a slightly untidy garden as I like to plan with wildlife in mind.

About a 70/30 between 70% composting and 30% in to a green council bin collected every 2 weeks from the 0/04/18. Anything that is difficult to break up due to its size or nature goes in the green bin. More manageable material goes finely chopped up in to my 4 compost bins

But no perennial weeds as they go in the council bin. That's why you should  never consider buying council compost

    Council garden waste bin only
We get a green waste bin as part of our council tax and all my garden waste goes into it. I don't compost as I don't have a suitable spot and to be honest I don't think I could manage the extra work. It's collected fortnightly and the other recycling is collected on the alternate weeks.  Our ordinary household waste is collected every week.
