Magnolia tree?

Liz WarnerLiz Warner Posts: 199
is this a magnolia tree? It was absolutely massive when we moved here covering over TWO bedroom windows upstairs! It was reduced to a stump (couldn’t get the stump out) and it’s sprouted again. It’s allowed to cover the fence panel. How do I look after it and control it? How do I encourage flowering? Does it flower on this years growth? Thank you!

    Yes, it's a laurel.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

Oh damn. I’m sure it was flowering when we looked round the house initially.  I’ll have to look through my photos we took before we moved in.

is it growing out of the huge stump at the base? If so, it won't take long to become huge again
