Watched a couple of things last night. Looking for a movie and watched Mustang from BBC iPlayer. Turkish with subtitles, it's about five young sisters who have been orphaned and are living with their uncle and grand mother. I think I must be strange, as I know women are treated differently around the world, but it's not until you see a thing like this that it brings it home. Simply done, but scary and sad.
Then there was the first part of a documentary on the Yorkshire Ripper - I lived through the period - but what hit me more than anything again, is how we are all the product of the era we live in/through. So, so strange. The incidents happened in the 70's and the people - the victims, the police, the press - were all so entrenched in 70's mentality. I know I bang on - but you see the murmuration effect - even the attitudes and mentalities (as well as the obvious fashions etc) were all so of the time. Makes me wonder how I would see myself in the new 20's if I looked back in 40 years.
Also - and again I know my viewing matter seems a bit gloomy - if you haven't watched the documentary (two parter) 'Murder Trial: The Disappearance of Margaret Fleming' - then that is a fascinating watch. Personally I would not have convicted them - I think they did it, but I didn't see that there was enough evidence. Benefit fraud - yep.
And before it disappears off iPlayer - 'State Of The Union' - 10, 10 minute programmes. Again, simply done. I think I'm recommending that as I fell a little bit in love with the character played by Rosamund Pike.

Yes i watched the first one, it's terrible what people do with these wild animals and you think that the people would get some financial support with it.
