    Calling all Nordic noir fans…

BBC4 at 9pm new series ‘Lost: Those Who Kill’. Danish, with subtitles. The last two series were excellent, so don’t let the subtitles dissuade you. I notice all episodes have appeared on iPlayer, for those who may be tempted to binge.

There are eight US series out there of the outdoors programme Alone. If you are into wild living, it might be for you. Contestants are given basic kit and can choose ten items to take alongside. They are then alone in the far flung wild for as long as they can last - building shelter and finding food. The eight US series are on Youtube and some UK subscription channels, like History. It has been franchaised by various other countries, with their own versions. The UK version has a first series starting on Channel 4 shortly.

It's an interesting format. No camera team, no narrator voice over, no 'team' of any kind, so the usual reality show blather is out. It's just experienced folk with wilderness skills, on their own, filming themselves, building stuff, foraging, fishing etc. seeing how long they can go.

I had no interest in this when it was first on but I kept hearing people giving it unexpectedly good reviews, so belated curiosity led me to look at the first episode (from 2019) the other day, on iPlayer. Now I'm hooked and almost through the second series too...
