  • I enjoyed The Magical World of Moss, available on IPlayer, and repeated on Tuesday at midnight (start of day).

"Mosses have colonised almost every corner of the earth’s surface. Evolving from oceanic algae that emerged onto the land 450 million years ago, these very first terrestrial plants became one of the main sources of oxygen for our evolving planet, helping to transform it from an arid rock into a lush world.

This documentary travels to some of the most beautiful moss-covered landscapes in the world, including Japan, Iceland, France and Denmark, to meet the experts investigating its astonishing properties and potential.

Science is only beginning to understand the secrets and possibilities of these remarkable plants."

  • @Alan Clark2 in Liverpool Agree with you. Stunning photography. Whilst training as a biology teacher I had to produce a portfolio on these and lichens and liverworts. It really did open my eyes to the wonder of these plants. Really worth watching. Give it a go.

I don't really watch much, but there was a series years ago called 'Wild China' - absolutely stunning scenery and wildlife, well worth a watch.

I'm also on series 2 of 'Helix', (on Prime and Netflix) which is really good. It's about a lot of scientists trying to deal with, and find a cure for, an engineered virus outbreak in a secret bio lab in Antarctica, and there are so many plot twists! Well written and very interesting.
  • @Slow-worm Ditto all you have said on Wild China. Again amazing footage and so informative.

Gardeners World returns Friday 17/2/23 BBC2 at 8pm. Can't wait.
  • Does somebody have eventually an information when the Garden Rescue episodes from last summer will be broadcast? I wonder because one episode was made in a nearby village in August. The landscaping team had their beer at our pub. I’m curious to see how it went.

If you google Garden Rescue episodes 2022 they have archives there and with a bit of luck you may be able to find the one that interests you.  :)
  • @Fran IOM Thanks for the tip but I mean the episodes made in July, not broadcast in July.

@Simone_in_Wiltshire. I see what you mean now. I didn't read it properly. If you google when will the new series be shown in 2023 you can subscribe to be informed when they start. You could already know by then so maybe a waste of time. Maybe the team themselves don't know. Sorry I couldn't help but I don't think anyone has the answer yet.
  • Thanks @Fran IOM. The older series started around May. I assume the new episodes are shown around the same time. Would be funny when they show that episode on telly at the same time when the villagers have their Open Garden. I do hope the couple in question does us the favour 😉
