    I've lost count Lyn  :o
  • I sowed some seeds on12th August. Some seeds were donated on this site and some I have had for 18mths-2yrs so thought I’ve got nothing to lose if they don’t germinate. Some have seeds have germinated already (wow! the Wallflowers were so quick!)  but I’m still looking at bare soil in other trays. Just hoping they put on more growth so I can prick them out by end of sept.

    Germinated:
    1. Geum orange cooky
    2. Geum Lady Stratton
    3. Wallflowers
    4. Ammi majus
    5. Salvia merleau blue
    6. Candytuft
    7. Hollyhocks

    No sign of:

    Digitalis lutea

    Cleome

    Eryngium

    Digitalis parviflora

  • Posted too soon  :s   my question is... do I leave the trays in the greenhouse all winter and lightly water or will they be on outside in a sheltered spot?

The cleome won’t be any good, you need to sow at the end of March, they don’t overwinter as they are annuals.
the foxgloves, if they do germinated, you’ll have to keep them in the GH, but I’m not sure they will, it was very hot then.
Sow your Eryngium seeds in March. Also sow more foxgloves then as well, they will make nice sized plants by the winter and you can plant out the flowing Spring.

  • Thank you Lyn I will. We haven't been that warm or dry (by Liverpool) since the beginning of Aug  :( It was gorgeous May, June and July.
  • As well as the Geum mentioned previously, I now have giant red Victoria Cross Poppy, purple flowering Honesty, red Hollyhock and Butterfly Blue Beauty Scabious seeds ready now. Victoria Cross poppyRed HollyhockButterfly Blue Beauty Scabious
  • I can add Verbena Bonariensis to the list too.
