Like Hosta, I tried to post earlier... then remembered I'd read the site would be closed, so went and bought a new backup battery for one of the smoke detectors, which started beeping last night. The cat was freaking out, refusing to go past the landing. She definitely thinks it was my fault - she's still looking at me from under her eyebrows, in that accusing way they have...
It's my younger granddaughter's 4th birthday today. Her mum's just sent us a little video of her gleefully blowing the P-buzz which we sent for her present. (It's a plastic "brass" instrument with a slide like a trombone, and is used in schools as an introduction to real instruments... mum is a French horn player so would like her daughters to have the chance to follow in her footsteps.) The reaction of the neighbours is not yet known...
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
Liri - apparently, my OH had a mini drum kit when he was a lad...it mysteriously disappeared a few weeks later!! 😂
Hope you all doing ok. I am contemplating doing some Easter flower oasis arrangements and jam jar posies... if it stops raining, I can pick some bits from the garden. ☔️
Afternoon all, I missed the close down as I didn't get up until 11.00. shamefaced smilie. I've been busy in the garden this morning redoing the barrel pond and clipping back ivy. Pruned limelight and another couple of shrubs and also topped up some pots with FBB and fresh compost. Rain has held off but it's gone cloudy and grey now so I suspect that'll be all for today. Hope everyone is enjoying their day.
Dove, yes please i'll have one thanks. I did do a bit of gardening this afternoon. Dug up a old lavender and planted another in a better place. I planted a blackcurrant bush in the old place.
Busy day so far and it started off wet and uninviting but had dried up by the time I got to Les Sables d'Olonne to meet OH who'd gone in earlier to drop off Harry for his expensive new cooling motor. A jolly time was then had at the market buying spider crab legs, hake and assorted veggies including pointy cabbage which I never see at the SM and proper spring onions ditto.
Thence to the SM where we decided we first needed a capuccino. Student on parade so, when I saw him dolloping whipped cream from a canister on the first cappuccino, I changed mine to black. SM had NZ lamb leg at 7€95 a kilo so that's us sorted for Sunday dinner. Back to the fishing port for lunch and then home for me while OH picked up Harry. Feeling dozy now.
My hot cross buns have gone into a warming drawer to finish proving and don't look anywhere as neat as your Dove but that's cos I left them rustic rather than rolled. I half expected to come home and fins Bonzo had snaffled them but he's been good.
A promising 11.5C by the time i got home. I hope that continues as we have lots of catching up to do outside. I hope it gets better for all of you over the long weekend. We must all need some garden time and sunshine.
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

Had a shop bought hot X bun earlier I think I need to taste test yours Dove- just by way of scientific comparison you understand Got soaked just going from SM to car even though I had waterproof jacket on. No chance of any gardening today. Just spent hours renewing our passports on line could not get site to accept our pictures at first, hope it works we need to book something to get us away from this awful weather.

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
I love Hot Cross buns but I don't suppose they could be thrown over the English Channel!
Obelixx, capuccino here usually has canned whipped cream on it, not foam.
I have now put all my seedlings in the GH on the heated mat or in electric propagators. Most have germinated but some were going a bit spindly.
