Bare rooted phlox

I have just received as a freebie, 6 bare rooted phlox paniculata mixed and am not sure what I should do?. Is it ok to put these in the ground now? My first thought was to soak the roots as they did look rather dry. What are the best conditions for this plant and how should I plant them? Is this a plant that will need lots…
