Haven't had time to read back yet.

    Morning all.
Been busy with family. They are going this afternoon, but snow is forecast. Hope they'll be OK.

We went for a lovely walk yesterday, haven't had such a sunny day for months.

We'll have pancakes for pud after lunch today.

Hi Pdoc - I don't mind offal - quite the reverse. Better to eat them than to only eat the prime cuts and throw the rest away - that is a terrible waste of a life.

It's not the idea of oysters I don't like, it's the taste. I feel the same way about Brussels sprouts, sweetcorn and coffee image

My sympathies to your friends Lilyp. I hate to say it, but, been there, done that! We lost everything in cyclone Tracy in Darwin Christmas 1974. People do find ways to keep going, even though at the time it doesn’t seem likely. image

Hi I have the chance to buy a blueberry bush but the c g guy says i need two although they dont have to be the  name plant can any one tell me what is correct. We are having a nice cool and overcast day with 2mm of rain last night.  We are off for a lunch time meal tomorrow with the MG car club so have just gave the car a wash and brush up it was its 40 birthday on jan 14, and at the moment is running ok. Our grandaughter pug dog that went blind and had a stroke last week seems to be finding he way round the garden and runs round the pool to bark at the dog next door.

Glenys, I have a blueberry which fruits every year. I don’t have a second one to cross fertilise it. That certainly was the case with Kiwi Fruit though.

  • There are self fertile blueberry varieties nowadays apparently and also self fertile Kiwi fruit thank goodness ... they're a bit big to have to have two of them!  Glenys, this may help   https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/edible/fruits/blueberries/varieties-of-blueberry.htm

As for offal ... I love it all image  my personal view is that if you're going to kill an animal you shouldn't waste any of it ... I understand that not everyone likes it tho', so it's just as well I love offal so much I'm prepared to eat your share too image

As for foie gras ...... this is the way to go ......   https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/wordofmouth/2007/dec/06/stepforwardforfauxgras

Wonky ........ it really was 'one of those days' wasn't it image

    Morning all.

Well that's a wee bit surreal. I was "chatting" to my daughter via FB last night before I went to bed. She in Heathrow waiting to board a flight to Bogota and when I logged on this morning , poof, there she was in the airport chatting to me whilst waiting for her connection to Cartagena.

    It's a small world indeed.

So sorry about the house fire. I can't begin to imagine if I lost everything. I think the worst thing would be photos of my kids when they were babies and children. I'm sure I'm not the only one who has a drawer full of every single birthday / christmas/ Fathers' Day card they've ever sent?

LOVE those cloches. They look so professional.

It's not the flavour of offal I can't stand, it's the texture. I'm fine with paté but I can't even look at liver ( those of us who suffer from nosebleeds will relate to what I think it looks like.

I totally agree that if we kill an animal for food, we should eat as much of it as possible.

I think "Jenny" is the self fertile kiwi.

What have I missed? Oh yeah, rain , rain and more rain. I've not been able to "plan" ( as in , "I'm going to cut the grass next Monday" when I'm off kinda thing ) to cut the grass since last June . Totally waterlogged.

    Devon.
  • Good morning all,

I planted a 'self fertile' kiwi years ago. It's enormous now and flowers every year but obviously not self fertile. I once read how to tell if it's a boy or a girl by the flowers but can't remember. I'd love to get a little friend for him or her  so they could have baby kiwis.

    this made me laugh:

Chance of a sunny day : 100% every day of the year.

Chance of a rainy day : 0% every day of the year.
