    Gorgeous @Papi Jo.

Beautiful photos everyone, isn’t this summer amazing? I thought the beast from the east would have us done for!

Thanks @Papi Jo the purple flower is a sweet rocket, I do have a phlox white admiral planted next to the rose, it flowers when the rose is on its second flush, campanula pritchards variety and veronica schneeriesin are starting to flower with the rose now  :). Your clematis are really nice.

Nice rose / clematis combo @1634 Racine the rose at the front nice and healthy.

I love your walled garden @Lily Pilly

Your sweet peas are doing well @scroggin much better than mine
Nice and colour full @Fire my crocosmia lucifer are starting to bulk up, got a few flower head which I think are a bit early this year

  • Can I ask some of you who have iris in the garden, is it true that I should try to keep the bulb above ground or at least showing so the sun can get to it? I think I read this somewhere but I am fed up of the cat digging in the ground and covering the roots over. I have seen some of your iris photos and I can’t see any bulb showing!!

@dont_die_wondering depends on which species of iris you are on about ? Bearded Iris ( big fancy flowers ) have rhizomes which need planting on the surface of the soil so the sun can bake it. They are many other iris which are not planted this way.

These are some bearded iris supreme sultan I planted last weekend, you can see the rhizomes sitting on the the surface.

  • Ah, yes Perki, they are indeed. What will happen if they don’t get sun? They just won’t flower?

Beautiful display Papi Jo, and amazing sweetpeas Scroggin - mine are also way behind this year Perki.

Your walled garden is looking lovely LilyP - so atmospheric.

DDW - yes you are meant to leave iris rhizomes so that they are part exposed to allow them to get a good baking in the summer.  Hopefully this current weather will be building them up for a bumper year in 2019 😀

July 1st. A bit parched but the heavy dew we get most nights keeps the moss lokking green for a while.
