The above is Bruno.  He is a 4 year old oriental.  He is one of three cats.  He is very talkative and a real lap cat.

The ears on the Orientals are amazing! Both have gorgeous coats and the temperament sounds delightful. I wish my two (or either) were lap cats. Charlie is very friendly and loves attention as long you don’t pick him up (!?) but doesn’t really like sitting on laps (loves sleeping on my legs or feet though) and George is a bit more ‘independent’ with his sitting arrangements (but snuggles in at night too). Funny creatures. Does anyone think cats can learn/be trained to sit on laps or is it just in-built whether they are lap-lovers or not??

AR - our two are learning to be lap cats.  Minstrel, the older kitten, is now a very affectionate talkative almost 3 yr old and has only just started being a lap cat and wanting major cuddles.   Cosmos, has always been more cuddly but not a lap cat except when Possum is here tho he loves company and play and snuggles.

@AuntyRach your two remind me of our now late pair. Minnie was a small black, very chatty, demanding, playful, loved leaping onto a lap so long as it was on her terms. Maggie was a stray B&W who conducted a campaign outside the kitchen window to adopt us. Mags was determined, but shy, she did not know how to miaow or play - she sat back and watched Minnie, you could see the brain cells ticking over and she definitely learnt she would get more love and attention if she mimicked Min’s behaviour. So perhaps they learn better from their own kind rather than us humans.

  • Yes Solomon has two other cats, and a Whippet to interact with, and an Adult at home most of the time,so I think he's going to be very happy!😁

Such lovely pics of cats - I am now feeling more than envious!  Our son's cat (the ginger and white one upthread with the santa hat on) had finally returned to son's house.  We have had him (cat) since before Christmas.  The house is now empty without his miaows/squeaks/head-butting/kneading.  On the plus side, we aren't woken at 6am with him sitting on our heads, demanding to be fed and the cat flap to be opened!

Horrid bit of local news today - some one is stealing cats and "abusing" them.  They limp home, need immediate treatment, and for some, their injuries are so severe they have to be euthanized.  The abuse is so awful, they can't even describe it, let alone show pictures of it.

I would cheerfully do time for such lowlife.
