At last I ventured out today, rained a little this morning but afternoon was OK. It has rained tremendously since New Year. Apart from the pansies, violas and viburnum tinus that I think I mentioned there was winter honeysuckle, snowdrops showing white tips, a daffodil in bud, dark red hellebores in bud and I think that's it. Garden is looking very sad and bedraggled.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Me too Busy - no snowdrops that I can see and no daffs either except the ones in pots and troughs form last year. Two yellow roses with one bedraggled bloom each and one pink rose. Mahonia winter sun has been flowering for weeks. My camellia has more flowers than last year. Winter honeysuckle is finishing. Several dwarf cyclamen flowering in pots and troughs and one or two in the ground. Daisies in the grass!! The winter pansies in a tub were blown away by Carmen and crashed.
Probably buds coming on the mimosa but I didn't go that far. Forgot to check the hamamelis.
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

Anything in flower at this time of year is a pleasure to see, they have put up with more than enough rain and wind and for us here many days without sunshine. Time to take stock of which plants to repeat this year and which have been a dismal failure.
