I have a large container rammed full of Agapanthus Sky Rocket which stays out on the terrace over winter here in Norfolk. I wrap the pots in bubblewrap to potect the terracotta but the plants seem fine. As you'll see from this old thread on the same subject, I've had them for several years now.
I have one in the ground and 2 in the soil. I do nothing protectionwise, and they come up better than the year before. Depending on where you ar econditions and protection will vary.
